What is it?
'Mesh-2-Edge Sim' uses Geometry Nodes to create a central 'skeleton' of edges from a mesh object, which can later be converted into bones.
Basic Use
- Select a mesh object.
- Right-click and select 'Lazy Bones…Mesh-2-Edge Sim'.
- The simulation will begin, and the 'Apply/Cancel' button will appear.
- Observe the simulation and click 'Apply' when you are satisfied with the results.
- Alternatively, you can manually pause the animation and scrub the timeline until you find a moment you like, then click 'Apply' (if you have ‘cache’ enabled in the preferences).
- The 'Sim Clean' modifiers will be added and the Sim Clean panel will open.

☠️ Playing the entire simulation through once as a preview can be beneficial. After previewing, you can cancel and restart the simulation. Or scrub the timeline if ‘cache’ is enabled in the preferences.

Not every model can be simulated.
Here are the factors that determine a good simulation.
1. Simulation needs volume.
The simulation determines the center of a volume. If your mesh lacks volume (for example, it's a plane) or is very thin, the simulation may have difficulty finding the center.
